As a real estate agent, homeownership and housing is always on my mind. Unfortunately, there are many in Wisconsin as a whole and Madison specifically who do not have a place to call home.
In fact, in Wisconsin, the number of homeless adults and children continues to rise. Madison has a lot of work to do to combat the housing issues in the city, but we also have many organizations who are joining in the fight to get those without homes into stable housing.
In this arena, one of the organizations that is closest to my heart is The Road Home. The Road Home’s mission is to provide opportunities for homeless children and their families to achieve self-determined goals and affordable, stable housing because they believe that every child deserves a home.
The Road Home partners with area churches to provide temporary, rotating shelter for families in their program. They also provide education and job-search support for adults in the program. Each family is assigned a case worker who works with the family to help get them back on their feet and into housing.
